The 2015 Summer Contest is Open!

It’s June 1st and that means our 2015 Summer Contest is now open for submissions!

We are really excited for this year’s contest because for the first time we’re including nonfiction. You have until August 31st to get your best stories, essays, and poems submitted.

Head over to our contest page to get the full contest details and familiarize yourself with our 2015 judges: Antonya Nelson, Julie Carr, and Wendy C. Ortiz. If you need a little jolt to get the submitting juices going, then you should pick up a book by one, or all, of our contest judges. We recommend Funny Once by Antonya Nelson, Julie Carr’s THINK TANK, and Wendy C. Ortiz’s Hollywood Notebook. You can also read last year’s contest winners who were published in Issue 30.

We are absolutely ecstatic when the first of June comes around, and to be alongside some other pretty important events associated with this day. Namely, in 1888 California got its first siesmograph, in 1940 coffee and tea was rationed in Holland, and in 1968 Simon and Garfunkel’s “Mrs. Robinson” hit #1. While we would never take your coffee away, we are working diligently on a number 1 hit. Stay tuned. It’s going to shake the earth.

You can submit to the contest here.
