2014 Summer Contest

We are so happy to announce the judges for the 2014 Summer Contest in Fiction and Poetry.

This year, the fiction judge will be Roxane Gay! Roxane Gay is the author of a novel, An Untamed State, which was published on May 6, and Bad Feminist, an essay collection that will be published on August 4.  She also has a story in Best American Short Stories 2012. (If you haven’t already, get yourself a copy of An Untamed State immediately. It is incredible.) Check out this interview we did with her for Issue No. 29.

The poetry judge will be Carmen Giménez Smith! Carmen Giménez Smith is the author of a memoir and four poetry collections, including Milk and Filth, and was a finalist for the 2013 NBCC Award in Poetry. She is the recipient of a 2011 American Book Award, the 2011 Juniper Prize for Poetry, and a 2011-2012 fellowship in creative nonfiction from the Howard Foundation. A CantoMundo Fellow and former Teaching-Writing Fellow at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, she now teaches in the creative writing program at New Mexico State University and serves as editor-in-chief of the literary journal Puerto del Sol and publisher of Noemi Press.

The contest opens on June 1 and closes August 31. Find out more here. We look forward to reading your work!
